5/27/2023 0 Comments Marvel copied dc![]() It seems inevitable that Marvel will one day go darker and grittier than it ever has beore, and this could potentially happen with the X-Men characters the company acquired when Disney purchased Fox a year ago. ![]() It is worth noting the studio seems to already be doing that with Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (its first horror movie). ![]() There is a feeling at some point Marvel will need to diversify its content. Captain American and Iron Man (at least in the incarnations we know) are already out, and Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy are unlikely to go on much longer. One question that persists around the MCU is how long Marvel can make this formula work, especially with some of those beloved characters leaving the MCU. Also, part of the formula has been a tilt towards humour and excellent action, without ever compromising drama and tension. Plot is hugely important and has spread over 23 movies to date, but Marvel knows people keep flocking to the cinemas around the world because they love those characters. What is that formula? Well, Marvel knows the value of its characters and has created movies that are driven by them. That said, there is no doubt Marvel has built these movies on a formula that was perfected during Phase 1 and into the first Avengers movie. Before continuing, I want to point out this is not a criticism of the MCU as some of my favourite blockbusters of all-time are within it. However, if you scratch a little below that surface you will find those diverse movies are actually incredibly similar. And then there are the Avengers movies, grand-scale blockbusters that combine all of the above into delightful comic-based ensemble movies. Captain America: The First Avenger is a period piece, Guardians of the Galaxy is a sci-fi epic saga, Thor Ragnarök is a punky colourful comedy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a spy thriller, and the Iron Man trilogy provides techno action. Marvel has enjoyed huge success across its cinematic universe and on the surface, the movies are incredibly diverse. No matter the state of either franchises films, both are doing wonders with their comics. ![]() While that was an uncanny coincidence, it is a fun thing to think about how the tides have turned on these amazing publishers. The MCU will eventually need a new direction Marvel s and DC s fanbases may have a rivalry that competes with the infamous Star Wars vs Star Trek debate, but the comic goliaths are far more friendly towards one another than people may realize. The Marvel Cinematic Universe predates DC Extended Universe by five years, the exact number of years DC had a head start in comics. While there really are characters that are similar to each other, DC would surely have the "first in the publication" and it had been producing characters during the five-year lead it had with Marvel.Īs for their cinematic universe which everyone is currently following, however, it could be argued that Marvel had a head start on DC. There has been a lot of controversies circling around both, even accusations that Marvel copied DC. Since then, both DC and Marvel have been toe-to-toe on which is better. However, Marvel was always on the back foot when it came to. For their contributions to the industry, they were awarded for the hard work that they put into. ![]() The efforts they put into practice demand appreciation. They were followed by heroes like Captain America, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and many others. Characters Copied from DC by Marvel Who Copied More, Marvel or DC Marvel and DC are the most reputed creators without a doubt. Human Torch was an android superhero while Namor the Submariner was an anti-hero. As for Marvel, their first-ever heroes to make a debut were Human Torch and Namor on the very first publication they released, Marvel Comics #1. ![]()
